Arab Talent definitely deserves more than this:

Picture
While there is an evident lack of Arabs at highest levels of international motorsport, and a definite presence of illegal and dangerous racing practice on our streets (try youtube’ing Saudi drifting if you’re unfamiliar), many of you might wonder, where are our Arab racing champions and role models and why aren’t they up there?

It is almost certainly not because our beloved Middle East lacks talent or worthy champions. It could possibly be because our Arab racing talent and worthy champions are neglected and not given any form of support whatsoever, just possibly. While Western academies and motorsport associations acknowledge and foster their drivers from youngest of ages, providing all forms of support and sponsorship which on its own allows these drivers to go through countless hours of pure racing at top level, tweaking and developing their skills to perfection over a series of years.

Meanwhile our Arab drivers spend most of their time outside the racecar thinking about how much they would love to be racing, and trying to come up with all sorts of ways trying to get someone to open their eyes and sponsor or support them, to eventually settle with short “on-the-side” seat time and then finally start with the catching up they have to do because the lack of seat time they’ve had for the past 3 years.

Perfect example of this is Yazan Hamadeh, an 18 year old Arab racing driver, where the past 5 years of his racing career has only been financed and supported by his father, but your racing career gets to a point where costs are too high to personally finance anymore. While coming 3rd In his first ever international karting championship, the Middle East karting cup, dominating the Saudi Karting championship by winning 3/3 rounds out of 57 drivers, and finishing a season filled with misfortune and mechanical failures as vice champion in his first year of car racing in the Saudi Formula BMW. Also being chosen to participate as one of the 30 best young drivers in the world out of 2500 applicants worldwide in the FIA institute driver’s excellence academy in Austria, competing and being assessed on track against guys who have millions of euros worth of backing behind them.

Where is he now? In the home of motorsports, the UK, with absolutely nothing to race because there is no financial support or sponsorship for him to carry on with his racing, and it really is a shame. Is this what Arab talent deserves? Is this what we Arabs deserve? Arab motorsport enthusiasts at least deserve a role model to help them take their racing of the streets and into the tracks, and that’s not possible without support of the Arab world.

Whether it was Vettel, Hamilton, or Schumacher, none of them would have made it anywhere without external financial backing and support, and Yazan needs support and sponsorship to continue his racing, and someone needs to take initiative and do something about it if there’s any hope for an Arab formula one driver or an international motorsport champion left in the Middle East.

Please do contact on either on Yazan's email or contact page and ask for Yazan's racing CV if interested in partnering up and supporting or sponsoring a future Arab champion.
